Mass. Approves Marine Workforce Funding

The 2023 Massachusetts state budget includes $150,000 in funding for workforce development and career technical education initiatives for the recreational boating industry, according to the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association.


“Here in Massachusetts, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs currently available,” MMTA said in a statement earlier this week. “We have the jobs and careers; we just need the people to fill them. This amendment will go a long way in continuing to help with the MMTA’s efforts on workforce solutions here in Massachusetts.”


The training initiative was introduced by co-chairs of the Legislative Boating Caucus, which has 60 members. The 2023 budget was signed last month by Gov. Charlie Baker.
